A Time-tested Technique to Grow. The PQRST Method

5 Elements of PQRST method

In today's world, there is an overwhelming amount of content available to consume. While increasing our knowledge is important, it's crucial to also grow our capacity to get things done

Perspective of Powerful Possibilities (PoPP)

PoPP involves identifying new insights or "aha" moments that could lead to powerful possibilities if implemented. Think about any paradigm shifts that have taken place recently or in the past – they all started with a change in perspective.r.

Q - Asking compelling questions

asking compelling questions related to your PoPP which will help uncover more possibilities. Consider what questions might reveal the power within that perspective shift.

R – Reflection

Once you've asked your question(s), take some time for R – reflection on the answer(s) and write down your thoughts. This process helps solidify your understanding and potentially uncover further insights.

S – Sharing your findings
sharing your findings with others through various platforms or directly via email benefits both yourself and those who engage with your shared content. Writing enhances learning while providing value for others as well.

T – Thoughtful action
T represents taking thoughtful action related to the perspective discovered during POP. Implementing these actions contributes towards personal growth and increased capacity for getting things done.

How to use PQRST template?

Here is an example of how we can apply the PQRST method. I am sharing the case of reading Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs book and learning about Mike Markula, one of Jobs' first mentors. Markkula shared three keywords that became Apple's marketing philosophy: focus, empathy, and impute.

Focus | Focus on a few products that Apple could be excellent at, and drop the rest.

Empathy | Understand what the users need better than the users themselves.

Impute | People do judge a book by its cover. So, pay attention to every single touchpoint in the user journey (eg: Product Packaging)

Using the PQRST method, I started with a perspective shift (P) to understand this marketing approach. Next, I asked myself (Q) what lessons from Apple's philosophy could be applied to companies like Audvisor. To answer this question (R), I considered the user experience at every touchpoint with Audvisor for our users and our experts.

After reflecting on these insights, sharing them with others (S) is crucial for collaborative growth. In this case, I am sharing my thoughts with you all. Finally, taking thoughtful action (T) by revisiting and improving user experiences ensures that we don't stop at theory but put ideas into practice.
